Birthday Dress

I wore this dress on my 39th birthday.  I can’t explain why I picked it that day.  It was a purchase from a friend who had bought it for herself and never worn it.  Then it sat in my closet for more than a year.  It never seemed to be the right thing to wear on any given day.  But on #39, I put it on and thought, “What the heck.  I either need to start wearing it or get rid of it.”

Then a strange thing happened on my 40th.  I reached for the same dress again.  When it happened again at #41, I realized a tradition had been launched.  The fabric is a linen weave, embellished with little embroidered flowers.  The dress has no spandex in it.  It either fits or it doesn’t.   I admit, there have been a few times during certain years, that I would not have been able to wear the dress.  But always on my birthday, it went on comfortably.

So anyway, here I am, 13 years later, a different person in so many ways.  But still rocking the Birthday Dress. IMG_4078w-priv

Welcome, Tiny Prince of Cambridge

Off topic, but prominent with me at the moment, is the emotion of the royal birth.  I got such joy this past 24 hours, watching with my friends on both sides of The Pond, as the events unfolded.  A heartfelt congratulations to the new parents, Will and Kate, and their families, and an adoring welcome to their baby Prince.  I was born the same year as Diana, so I have to realize I should be identifying with the new grandparents now.  Not being a ‘royal,’ I identify more closely with the Middletons.  It is hard to comprehend how Kate’s parents must have felt this morning waking up to the fact that they are grandparents to a future King.

One more day

One more grueling day of this three-day class, and then I return home to my routine, my Buddy, and my Janathon endeavor.  I am doing well on the nutrition front; resisting the junk and making progress on my pre-holiday weight.  Less than a pound to go.

I made two fabric acquisitions at JoAnns, that I think will be winter jumpers.  That online 5o% coupon came in very handy.
